TwitchCon 2016

How old are you?

I’m 21 years old.

Where are you from?

Austin, Texas.

How long have you been streaming?

I started streaming for fun back in late 2012 streaming Runescape casually. I didn’t seriously start streaming until April of 2014. I acquired partnership in the Summer of 2014 and have been streaming full time since then!

Sypher, I want to start streaming, what tips can you give me?

When do you stream?

I started my gaming journey...

at the age of 8, when my dad gifted me a PlayStation 2 for my birthday. I quickly became addicted on titles like Crash Bandicoot and Jack and Dexter. A few years later I found myself in the library of my Elementary school and saw one of the older kids using one of the library computers to play Runescape. I watched him intently and began asking questions about the game. “Are those other characters real people?” I asked. The idea of online multiplayer was something outside of my spectrum. Never once did it cross my mind as a possibility. When I got home that day I ran to my computer and typed in the url “run” and “escape” “.com”-- that’s how I remembered the Runescape URL. Ever since then I have been hooked on multiplayer games. I have a hard time playing anything that isn’t multiplayer. It is a huge part of the appeal to me as a gamer--to  play with and against other players around the world. Games like Runescape, The Elder Scrolls Online, Overwatch, and For Honor have given me the multiplayer aspect that I love.

In middle school I was assigned to make a documentary styled video for my history class. What started off as a dreaded assignment, ended up sparking my drive to become a content creator. With the limited knowledge I acquired working on that documentary, I began recording Runescape videos using my Hypercam.

I made my Youtube channel “SypherPK” in August of 2011.

I began posting overly edited Runescape PvP montages with my younger brothers. A year later we had acquired a few thousand Youtube subscribers watching our edgy Runescape videos. We dabbled into streaming on Twitch but never really committed to streaming. Over time my brothers started to branch off into other things and I was left working on the Youtube channel on my own. Sometime later, with the release of the Elder Scrolls Online, I started to take Youtube and Twitch more seriously. I started covering the game before launch and did some streams during the open beta. Starting with only a couple dozen viewers a night, over the course of a year we were able to build a strong and thriving community on Twitch centered around The Elder Scrolls Online. I became a Twitch partner soon after and decided to pursue this career full time. Fast forward to today and we have a strong dedicated viewer base across multiple games, sponsors supporting the stream, and plenty of milestones achieved with the help and dedication of the SypherHood.

What are you favorite games?

Runescape will always be a childhood game that I will never shake off. I played it since third grade and it was a staple in my childhood and early adulthood. I also played a lot of Halo 3 on the Xbox 360 before getting my first real gaming PC. Once I got my first budget gaming PC I jumped in on the launch of The Elder Scrolls Online and fell in love for a couple of years. I also started playing For Honor in February of 2017 and became a prominent and successful competitor in the For Honor scene.

Currently I am playing Fortnite Battle Royale full time and plan on competing at the highest level.
